The moment I opened my laptop to begin editing, a wave of nervousness took over me. As excited as I was to create our first task, a part of me knew that we could have made it better, and the only thing I could do to improve our task was to edit it to the best of my abilities.
Choosing what editing software to use was definitely tricky. I chose to use WonderShare Filmora for two reasons:
A, It is a simpler software as compared to Adobe softwares or Sony Vegas, therefore it would've been easier for the entire team to see the process and make edits.
B, It is less time consuming to use (even in terms of rendering).
Even while writing this I can hear the “TICK TICK TICK” bomb sound in my head. All audio I used, except the voiceovers, was taken from YouTube. I initially tried creating a hospital background audio myself, but it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. Therefore, I used this audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYNN-EFdTmU&t=258s

Here is the full timeline of our project along with the preview screen. Six tracks were used; one for the title and credits, one for the black borders, one for our footage, and three for the audio. We did not use all the shots we took (because let's be fair, it felt like there were thousands of them), but we took our time to pick out the best ones.
We decided to add black borders to experiment with our projects ratio, and to try out something new. I was careful not to make them too thick, because our team did not want the borders to be disruptive.
When it came to editing the colour composition for most of the shots, the temperature was decreased to be more on the "cool" and "blue/grey" side. The saturation was decreased as well, mainly to pull the colour out of Myiesha's skin so she looks like a "churail" ( I am truly sorry Myiesha). Doing this definitely added to the horror aspect of our task because the grey tones, coupled with the red scars, made it much more intriguing.
The volume of the bomb ticks was decreased in the particular shot where we see the nurse and doctor pass by so that the voiceover is relatively clearer and understandable. The volume of the voiceover was also decreased slightly, so that it appears to be a natural sound from the background and merges well.
Fade-out to black was used at the very end, after the last shot. The duration of the fade transition was 1:18 seconds. Aside from that, all edits were simply cuts. The first 4 cuts matched the "tick" sound of the audio, however, it was extremely hard to cut all shots on the "tick" because some shots HAD to be longer. Hopefully, we get to experiment more with transitions and effects in the future as well.
